August Memorial

A BART delay (detritus on a track),
an uphill walk, and picketing outside,
a hidden entrance to a group in black,
but I arrived on time. Two parents died
who merited memorial. In back
and flanked by shared descendants, well-supplied
with water crackers, memory and word,
we lovingly attended all we heard.
