Some time ago, the moon eclipsed the sun
in part, and we were cautioned all along
that we must screen our eyes unless we’d run
a blinding risk. Now doesn’t it seem wrong
(or strange at least) that though we’re born on earth
and nourished by this star, we have to learn
it’s gorgon-like, and disregards our birth,
and filterless it causes retina burn?
So sunlight straight is harmful, we admit,
and naked bulbs of light are not as nice
as shaded, filtered radiance appears.
Although I know it’s inappropriate,
I have to blare. Ignoring all advice,
I must assert or else I’ll drown in tears.
