Of late there seem to be more dogs around,
more water bowls outside the local stores.
A multitude of canines can be found
on leashes, even strollers. They’re outdoors
on walks, in restaurants, and underground
on public transit. Most are small in size.
But yesterday I spied a mellow hound
whose bulk was a remarkable surprise.
