Winter Sky

The fact is, we don’t have a big sky here.
The ocean ferries clouds and overcast,
and though our air is generally clear,
we don’t see starscapes like the prairies, grassed
and landlocked. We are graced with atmosphere
of moist and breezy, line-of-sight not vast.
But even here we sometimes have a sky
that stops me in my tracks and bathes my eye.
