Spare the Air

sun_and_clouds_191379

I like a morning joint. Last Saturday,
I’d been awake three hours and I’d done
some extra exercise before a ray
of bright invaded, shot from summer sun
unclouded (we’re inverted, pooling hot).
But when I exhaled out the window sill,
the smoke did not disperse. The air was not
in any motion: seriously still.

The light was lovely, but at 10 AM
the atmosphere was stale – humidity
too low. The temperature inspired then
an obvious reactive policy:
a day for doing little, moving less,
and practicing relaxing after stress.
