I fell in love at 2:05 PM
just yesterday – aware you shut the door,
my belly heating and from nowhere phlegm
between my voice and air. My thoughts implore
you to approach, to cover me, surround
my limbs, insist on me, and take my neck
between your teeth. Now to the carpet, downed,
impressed, and business comes a sweaty wreck.
So raced imagination while we spoke
financial stuff, my fantasy a wheel
about a conference table, cleared for use.
There came a minute quick when something woke
in me, as if you laid a stark appeal,
and now I’m half-convinced and coming loose.
